Why is this work important?
A 2023 Gallup poll reports that the number of adults identifying as LGBTQ+ has more than doubled over the past 12 years with more than one in five Gen Zers identifying as part of the community. In addition, a 2021 report from the CDC shows this increase to be even greater for high school age students with more than 1 in 4 students identifying.
For youth to engage in their learning, community, and life, they must feel safe, seen and represented in their curricula and in the world. For employees to be productive, they must also feel safe, seen and included. Customers are more likely to patronize a business if they feel welcome and safe with its employees. Transgender people are more likely to seek healthcare from providers who fully embrace and understand gender diversity.
How do you ensure these things happen? You need:
